Procrastination

Currently I’m in the library, procrastinating doing an assignment for inorganic chemistry.  So I found out that the University of Calgary is conducting research on prograstination and I decided to take the quiz.  It’s 150 questions long.  I bet you the true procrastinators don’t even finish the quiz…right now I’m on question 61 and I feel like giving up.

Hello world, from huoleton.wordpress.com

THIS IS OUTRAGE!!!

Non-customizable CSS?!?!

  • The background colour is too dark
  • The links on the sidebar are too small
  • I don’t like the link colour
  • I don’t like the font colour

Huoleton

  • Finnish, according to my dictionary, meaning “carefree,” which I assure you, is not an accurate description of this blogger.

Don’t get me wrong, I love wordpress. But for the last 5 years of blogging I’ve always been able to customize every aspect of my website. This is driving me up the wall. I suppose it’s all my fault that I never remember to tell people that what I really want for my birthday/Christmas is a DOMAIN. And that I’m too lazy to fund it myself.

Happy new year!  Everyone get rich!

For Chinese New Year, which began last Sunday, the relatives that live in town came over to bi leen.  And then my aunt was telling my cousin about her grandmother, that she was aging and could no longer remember things from the recent past, although she had recollection of things that happened long ago.

Cousin 1: Oh, so if there was a new baby in the house, every day she would be like “Look, a new baby!”

Cousin 2: And when they play peek-a-boo together…when they open their eyes, they’ll both be surprised!

—————————————————–

My cousin again, on the sleeping habits of one of our uncles:

Cousin: Yeah, 4th uncle funs really early now.

To “fun” = to sleep in Cantonese.  An s was added because 4th uncle is singular, she said.

…look, a baby!

“Deutschland:” An infantile fascination with foreign languages

Me: Mamee how do you pronounce this word?

Mom: *stares* Doyshland

Me: Hahahaha that’s such a funny word

—————————————————–

Me: But my mom said it was “Doyshland.”

Steven: Well, maybe, but in low German it’s “Ditchland.”  My parents speak Low German.

Me: Oh.

—————————————————–

Nathan: Hey look at this thing, it says “Dishland.”

Me: No, mamee said it was “Doyshland” and in low German it’s supposed to be “Ditchland.”

Nathan: In Low German it’s pronounced “Ditchland?” HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

—————————————————–

The more correct wikipedia pronunciation is closer to “Doyt-chland.” In any case, I always thought the first syllable of the word resembled a sound one would make after witnessing someone else fall. As in

- *BAM!!!*

– Doyt-chhhhh……
